I have been on a bit of a flip-chart kick lately... trying to keep up... trying to get ahead... anticipating extended Singing Times with the children listening, learning, and singing with rapt attention...
Yesterday when I was getting ready for church, I was listening to my standard Sunday morning Mormon Tab's Hymns of Praise CD. It's been in my trusty CD player (I know, so old fashioned) for... months? years? I'm not sure. It got me thinking about the April "song of your choice about Jesus Christ"... The disc starts with All Glory, Laud and Honor. I love that hymn. I could envision Primary children belting it out with power and feeling (like the Mormon Tab, you know). A little while later The Lord Is My Shepherd started playing. I have always been endeared to the metaphoric description of Christ as the Shepherd, and we as His sheep. I wondered if/how I could help the children understand the concept of the hymn. Then a Primary song came into my mind -- one that I didn't learn as a child, but one that I had fallen in love with my first Primary-chorister-go-around 16 years ago.
So.... no prayerfully-made decision on the official April song selection yet, but I made a flip-chart for this song anyway. Even if I don't end up using it for the program, I plan to teach it to the kids,
if only because I love it,
and I'm the chorister, so I can.
